Our Mission and What We Do

At the Family Crisis Center, it is our mission to assist those who have experienced domestic or sexual violence to move from victimization to empowerment. We serve the community in Northeast Arkansas, helping those who have suffered from these grievous experiences with the support they need to move into life’s next chapter. From our emergency hotline to emergency shelter to connection to community resources, we help survivors every step of the way.

Our History and Impact

The Family Crisis Center originated in 1986 after a taskforce was put together to establish the Northeast Arkansas Council of Family Violence Prevention. A local pastor recognized a need and formed this taskforce to address domestic violence and sexual assault. What started small with part-time staff, eventually grew to a 24/7 program with a full-time team of advocates. With the support of our community, the Family Crisis Center continues to grow to provide these much needed services. In 2018 we established the Rape Crisis Center, and in 2022 we were able to add our human trafficking program. Year after year, we help thousands of women and children in our community with shelter and so many other support services.
